Apple’s new release: The Phone SE

The iPhone SE is a different type of phone from what we have seen Apple release in recent years.

The iPhone SE released on April 24, 2020 and it offered an alternative from many iPhones we have seen come out. This iPhone goes back to a design that we have not seen

since the iPhone 8. For the past few years, we have come to know iPhones to be mostly bezelless except for the one notch at the top. The home button was also removed back with the iPhone X. The iPhone SE does not follow in these steps and has gone back to having bezels and brought back the once staple to iPhones, home button.

According to the official Apple website, the price of the phone starts at $399 for 64GB of storage. For 128GB you will have to pay $499 and for 256GB it will be $549. These prices are much cheaper than iPhones that have come out over the last few years.

On Apple’s website it is explained the chip in the iPhone SE is the, “A13 Bionic chip, Third generation Neural Engine.” This is the same chip that can be found in Apple’s iPhone 11. This will allow the iPhone SE to be on par with other modern smartphones in terms of processing power.

Also found on the apple website, “Rated IP67 (maximum depth of 1 meter up to 30 minutes) under IEC standard 60529.” The iPhone SE will have a level of water resistance which can be a very useful feature as it helps to make sure your phone won’t be damaged in situations such as rain or if some water spills onto it.

In terms of how you will be able to unlock your iPhone SE, on Apple’s website it is explained, “Touch ID Fingerprint sensor built into the Home button.” Touch ID will be making its return along with the home button for the iPhone SE. Touch ID is a feature that many miss on current iPhones, and fingerprint sensors are built in on many other smartphones, so Touch ID will satisfy many users.

The iPhone SE will offer both a front camera and back camera, with it’s back camera capable of 4K video. It will have a 4.7 inch display.

The iPhone SE is a cheaper alternative to other iPhones out right now. The iPhone SE does not have all the features of Apple’s high end models, but it does offer enough to satisfy people looking for a budget phone. The inclusion of the A13 chip in this phone and the cheap price point, so that you are getting maximum value for your money. Although it may look older and does not have as large a screen, the features and specs it comes with makes it a good buy.

This phone is targeted at people that can’t afford a higher end iPhone, but they still want to use the apple brand. The iPhone SE is being sold by many carriers such as Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, Cricket Wireless, Boost Mobile, and Spectrum Mobile.

On CNET.com the reaction to the phone is as follows, “It has an attractive price, fantastic battery life, great rear camera, A13 processor, water resistance and support for wireless charging. The SE is not only a wonderful iPhone, but one of the best budget phones you can currently buy.”

The one place that is explained by CNET.com where the iPhone SE does not meet up to standard is the camera, “It’s not until you look very closely at the photos below that you can see that the iPhone 11’s portrait mode captures just a bit more detail and less noise.” Here the iPhone SE is compared to the iPhone 11 where it is explained it is not as detailed as the iPhone 11.

For the front facing camera on CNET.com, “the iPhone 11 has a wider front-facing camera, and it’s capable of shooting 4K and slow-mo videos. The iPhone SE only shoots 1080p video and no Slofies.” Here it is explained the front facing camera on the iPhone SE is not as good as the higher end model, iPhone 11, as it does not have 4K or slow-motion videos.

The iPhone SE brings back an older design, but comes with many features and specs, that along with a lower price may make it something its target audience will want.
