Stay Active, Stay Fit

Have you ever wondered why people want to play sports, such as soccer, football, or basketball? Along with their interest and passion, they focus on the benefits that playing sports can have. There are several benefits of playing sports other than health benefits that people often don’t consider.

There are several advantages of playing sports. It doesn’t just make you healthy and fit, but provides many opportunities. Playing sports in places like school and colleges gives you the opportunity to branch out into the real world and provide you career opportunities. School-based sports are also a great way to start if you’re passionate about sports. It’s a great opportunity to show your skills through school competitions.

Playing sports in school has benefits on your health, social life and emotions. The clearest benefits of school-based sports programs can be seen in the physical health of teens. “Sports balance our body’s blood pressure, circulation, and prevents problems, such as high tension,” according to Healthline.Teens. They tend to develop communication skills, become more socially active, and gain more confidence. When you are physically active, your mind is distracted from daily stresses reducing the levels of stress hormones in your body. Research show that exercising stimulates production of endorphins, which are natural mood lifters that can help keep stress and depression at low

“I am motivated to go to practice everyday because I am committed to my passion of bowling. I love my team because I’ve learned a lot from them. I became more social because of the team. I have definitely seen changes in my body ever since I started playing. I became healthier, energetic, and stronger. Not just that I have seen changes in my social skills and emotions because I gained confidence in myself.” said Michelle Chew, a member of the bowling team at Thomas A. Edison High School. Chew is passionate about bowling and claims that bowling has affected her positively.

Playing sports at college also has a lot of benefits. Not only does it allow you to continue playing the sport you love, but it helps prepare you for the real world. “Through various sports associations, many colleges offer students the chance to play competitive sports at the varsity level,” according to Big Future-College Board.

Varsity athletes are eligible for sports scholarships and who doesn’t want a scholarship right? “College athletes develop many skills, such as leadership skills, teamwork skills, and time management skills, which are important for jobs,” stated a National Scouting Report. Another major benefits of playing is that it can create a career path for you and which can possibly provide you an opportunity to play in national teams.
