Futbol Vs. Football

Statistics show that football is the most popular sport in America. While that might seem the case others believe that Soccer is more popular. Which brings us to the question. Which is more popular and why?

Football is a highly well-liked sport that is played at collegiate and professional stadiums as well as high schools. Running, passing, kicking, and body contact are all involved. Two teams of 11 players each compete in a football game. By advancing a ball past the goal line of the opposing team, a team earns points. Soccer is a team sport in which each team consists of 11 players. The purpose of the game is to get the ball into the opposing side’s goal without using hands or arms.

With the Super Bowl around the debate always comes up between soccer and football. Fellow student Ishfath Zaeem here at Edison we got to understand the reasoning for why people believe Soccer is better than Football. Soccer all the way man. I mean I grew up watching soccer and played it as a kid. Have you ever tried to watch Football? I only watch it when the Super Bowl is on. To be honest it looks very complicated and difficult to understand. It is so hard to understand compared to a sport like soccer or basketball.

What about soccer makes it easier than football? Soccer is self explanatory. You kick the ball in the net without using your hand. Football requires multiple actions. You can’t kick the ball, you have to get past the yard line. I mean I get lost just trying to watch it.

Ishfath isn’t the only student at Edison that stands by this. Other students also believe that Soccer is bigger and easier than football. The answer as to why? Well it really depends on the area in which one lives. Edison has a huge community of people that enjoy watching soccer. Compared to schools in other parts of the United States, which might not have much diversity in communities making football the primary sport played.
