New and Improved Eos at your fingertips?

Fall is here, and winter is slowly approaching. This means that the days are getting chillier and chillier which can slowly cause mayhem to our daily beauty routines. Lips usually turn dry and chapped during the Winter but that doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy another lip care product. Eos is a common lip balm that is commonly used by teenagers and adults which can be easily made with at home ingredients from the supermarket.

All you need is boiling water, an empty Eos lip balm container, a microwave, beeswax or lip balm with beeswax as an ingredient, coconut oil and vitamin E oil. These ingredients can be commonly found at home; vitamin E oil can be found in pills and beeswax can be found as an ingredient in lots of different Chapsticks or lip balms. All you need is to do is to find these ingredients in your pantry or buy them in your local grocery store, pharmacy or Trader Joes.

The first step is to remove the remaining lip balm and to disinfect the container. A pot of water should be boiled and poured it into the Eos container. In this step it is necessary to wear gloves in order to protect your hands from the hot pot. Obtain a small bowl to mix the ingredients and insert 2 tablespoons of beeswax pellets or your beeswax lip balm, 4 table spoons of coconut oil and a half a teaspoon of vitamin E oil. Insert the bowl with the ingredients for about a minute in a microwave. Make sure all the ingredients are melted and if not, keep adding 30 seconds until liquefied.

If you would like to add a fun color to your lip balm, all you need is either a crayon or some old lipstick! Cut off either a piece of a crayon or your old lipstick and add it along with the mixture that is microwaved. After the ingredients are microwaved, the mixture is poured into the rounded part of the Eos container. Peppermint oil is also recommended to add if the Eos mint flavor appeals to you. The container is filled all the way to the top since it doesn’t matter if it overfills. Screw the top of the container and leave it in your refrigerator for four hours in order for your Eos to solidify.

After these few steps, you are finally done creating your own at home Eos work of art! The coconut oil inside the lip balm will moisturize your lips, Vitamin E Oil helps heal scars while peppermint oil will remove any redness you may have. Have fun creating your own DIY Eos lip balm and be sure to re-use these stylish containers!
