It’s a Fall Day, But Not a Boring Day.

Summer is over, school has started and Fall is here, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun anymore. There are still many activities and things you can do and places you can visit even though school is in session. All you need is a metro card and you’re ready to go!

Roosevelt Island is a good place to visit with your friends on the weekend any time of year. The island has a beautiful view and a sky-high view in the tramway that you can take across the city. The tramway avenues the East River and reaches the incredible Upper East Side. The tramway goes across two miles from the East River to 46th st and 85th st Manhattan.

The area in Roosevelt Island is mostly residential; however it is surrounded by beautiful green spaces and history. If your into history, some historical places include; Strecker Memorial Laboratory, Renwick Smallpox Hospital, FDR Memorial Park and Blackwell Island Lighthouse. Roosevelt Island can also appeal to children since there is a little park with a sprinkler pool, playground, climbing wall and basketball courts!

South point Park can also be a go-to place to hang out if you’re the picnicking type you can always bring a blanket and some food with you. If you’re not, then River walk Bar and Grill may be the place for you! Only a two minute walk from the Roosevelt Island train station; this restaurant is casual with TV’s for sports and views of the Queens Borough Bridge. It is a reasonable priced restaurant; appetizers are usually $5 to $10 and entrées are usually $8 to $15. The food ranges from wings to fish to steak.

After grabbing a bite or hanging out and resting on the island you can just hop on the F train back to Queens. Make sure you have fun, and before you leave you should take a quick snap, since these views are only seen by helicopters!!
