The Super Mario Movie: Our Favorite Italian Plumbers

The Mario movie, directed by Illumination, was a highly anticipated adaptation of the popular video game franchise Super Mario. The movie follows the beloved characters of Mario and Luigi as they set out on a mission to save the Mushroom Kingdom from the clutches of the evil Bowser. Along the way, they team up with new friends, including the lovable Toad, Princess Peach, and Donkey Kong, to stop Bowser’s nefarious plans and restore peace to the Mushroom kingdom.

One of the most significant strengths of the Mario movie is its animation style. The movie is visually stunning, with vibrant colors and incredible attention to detail. The Mushroom Kingdom feels alive and vibrant, with each character and environment bursting with personality and charm. While it may not please everyone, fans of the series  undoubtedly enjoyed seeing their favorite characters on the big screen.

We asked some students around Edison about how they felt about the movie and if they thought it was worth the watch.

Digital Media student, Anthony Ferierra, shares his thoughts on his expectations.

“I played the games when I was younger so I had high expectations, but I knew I would like the movie regardless.”

When asked what he thought about the animation and casting Anthony had this to say,

“The animation was for real amazing. I expected it to be good but it was better than I thought. I think Jack Black did a really good job playing Bowser, he was probably my favorite character.”

The voice cast is another highlight of the movie, with A-list actors bringing their unique talents to the iconic characters. Chris Pratt brings his charm and humor to Mario, while Charlie Day’s manic energy is a perfect fit for Luigi. Jack Black delivers an inspired and humorous performance as the villainous Bowser, and Anya Taylor-Joy brings a regal quality to the role of Princess Peach. Despite the hype surrounding the movie, it has received mixed reviews from both critics and fans. Some praised the movie’s humor and animation, while others have criticized the casting choices and the storyline.

In an interview with a student at Edison, Allison Perez, we got her take on the popular movie. Allison comments on the hype around the movie.

“The movie was really hyped up, I honestly don’t think I would have watched it if It wasn’t talked about so much online.”

When asked how she felt about the movie Allison commented on the storyline itself.

“I feel like they could have added more to the storyline, there weren’t really any twists or turns, it just got straight to the point and you could pretty much predict what was going to happen.”

Despite some criticisms, the Mario movie was still a highly entertaining and enjoyable adventure that is sure to delight fans of the series. Its stunning animation, engaging characters, and talented voice cast make it a worthy addition to the Mario Universe. Whether you are a longtime fan of the franchise or a newcomer to the world of Mario, the movie is a must-see for anyone who loves fun and adventure.
