How Has Music Had an Affect on Today’s Generation?

The type of music a person listens to can affect things such as their personality, their sense of fashion, the type of makeup they wear, and much more.

Not only does the type of music we listen to affect our personality, it can also affect our moods and emotions. For example, music with gentle and leisurely beats may help someone feel less stressed whereas music with a gloomy or woeful beat may make someone feel more dejected and sorrowful. However, this isn´t always the case; sometimes listening to certain genres of music is pleasurable to people and has no effect on how a person feels.

Music can be a form of therapy and stress relief for some. People listen to certain genres of music as a way to help calm themselves down and to lessen stress and anxiety.

Studies have shown that listening to music can actually cause a boost in serotonin as well as affect our dopamine systems. According to an online article, things such as music music are naturally supposed to target our dopamine systems. A study had also shown that when listening to French music in a store, customers were more likely to purchase French products and when German music was playing, they were more likely to purchase German items. Music is something that has a positive impact on a majority of people and can be a way to decompress and destress.
