Oak House Mexican Kitchen

Located at 155 Tulip Ave, Floral Park, NY 11001, Oak House Mexican Kitchen is known for their made to order authentic Mexican cuisine made with  fresh ingredients. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very relaxing, comfortable, and the decor was aesthetically pleasing. This location is open from 4pm until 10pm every weekday, from 11am to 12am on Saturdays, and from 11am until 10pm on Sundays. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and offers free Wi-Fi for diners.

Their vegan menu has a large variety of options including BBQ jackfruit, seitan, Beyond chicken, vegan cheeses, sour cream, and more. I started off my order with their Ultimate Vegan Nachos, $14. They were very flavourful and the different textures of the chips, BBQ Jackfruit, guacamole, and other toppings worked very well together. Next I ordered the Burrito Loco with BBQ Jackfruit which was $17. This was the best burrito I have ever had. Filled with delicious ingredients and flavors such as rice, beans, vegan sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, melted vegan cheese, and red and green sauces, the burrito was definitely something I would go back for again. I ended off my order with a slice of their vegan pina colada cheesecake for $8. Most restaurants that offer vegan options forget about dessert, so I was delightfully surprised to find that this spot had vegan dessert options. The cheesecake was the perfect way to end off the meal. It had the perfect amount of sweetness, a creamy texture, and paired well with the other dishes I tried.

The service was also good. Due to the food being made fresh to order, there was a slight wait between ordering and receiving the food. This wait was around 15-20 minutes, but due to the freshness and high-grade quality of the food the wait was worth it. The staff was also very friendly and helpful as I was trying to navigate through their menu. Finding parking near the restaurant was a difficult task. Due to the location being on Tulip Ave, a busy main street, we had to park a few blocks over. However, the quality of the food and the good service that was received, the slight parking problem was easily overlooked.

Despite being on the pricier side, Oak House Mexican Kitchen is a restaurant that I will find myself going back to in the future. Overall, I would give the restaurant 4.7 stars out of 5 stars. The only negative to my dining experience was the lack of parking, however the exceptional food and service made up for this. With meat, vegetarian, and vegan options for members of any party, this is definitely a spot that I would recommend to others.

I chose to write for the food section due to food being something that can bring people together and play important roles in people’s cultures. I have been vegan for over six years and this gives me an excuse to try new restaurants that cater to those who partake in plant-based diets. Besides writing, my hobbies consist of dancing, cheerleading, and going to concerts!
